One of the questions that I often get asked is D which do you think is better when it comes to getting clients with YouTube shorts or long form videos and I was actually having a conversation with somebody about this yesterday and I want to share that conversation with you in this video and so I had a one-on-one call and uh this guy helps men who are grieving the loss of a child or a loved one so very serious topic and he was telling me right now I’m just creating a bunch of shorts it’s very easy to create and I’m not sure if I should just keep doing that or if I should start making long form videos I don’t know if people actually will watch them if they’ll just beat past them if it’s better just to create a whole bunch of shorts but my vision and my goal isn’t just to get clients or to grow a business but I want my channel to leave behind a legacy I want whenever I die and I’m no longer here on Earth that these videos can still serve a purpose and impact people and so I was like all right well tell me a little bit more about your your background and and how you came to this point that way I can give you a better answer and and he was telling me that a couple years ago uh his daughter passed or not his daughter his granddaughter passed away his granddaughter passed away and it was a very hard time for him uh emotionally mentally and he just went into a really dark place where he was just kind of staying to himself and he was trying to find content online to help him with this whether that’s videos podcast blogs whatever it is and he was like I just D I was really struggling to find what I needed and so in in return I was just kind of staying to myself and my wife he said that his wife was telling him like man it’s hard for me to heal like when you’re not healing and he’s like that just really you know bothered me and as a man I knew I had to find a way to come out of this so he went on this journey of trying to figure out the right information the right tools the right resources that could help him with grieving the loss of a family member of a child and then a couple years later his uh father passed away and he said again you know it was just a really hard dark time for me to figure out how to come out of this and so fast forward as he’s learned to heal and he’s learned to process this he’s learned how to you know handle The Grieving situation he ended up meeting another guy that had just suffered the loss of his child a young kid it was like two or three years old he was telling me and this guy was in a dark place himself and he was like D I really want to help this guy but he’s kind of doing what I did was is going into like you know men sometimes we just go into our own little like our own internal man cave I think he said or a cocoon and he would just stay into himself and he wasn’t really you know expressing himself or how he was feeling it wasn’t letting other people in he’s like I text them I call him nothing and I really want to help this guy so I was like my thought process on is it better to use shorts or long form when it comes to getting clients is don’t just do what’s easiest for you it’s easy for you to pull up a camera record a 30 second reel knock out like 40 50 or whatever at the same time have an editor throw some some edits on throw them into later or metrial whatever is schedule them and just put them up and then cross your fingers and hope that you get a lot of views from that and that’s it and that is definitely a way to go but I was like if you’re trying to make an impact if you’re trying to have that channel that leaves that Legacy behind and really makes a difference in these people’s lives think about them put yourself in their shoes matter of fact I told him go back to go back in time to when you suffered the loss of your grandchild and you’re in that dark place and you were depressed or however it is that you were feeling what did you need at that time did you need somebody to just say hey here’s a 30second reel a 60-second reel a 60c short hey uh and just kind of speed quick speed fast through the information is that what you needed or did you need a friend somebody that could sit down and have a not even a 30 minute conversation but a 5 10minute conversation that’s that where they’re saying hey hey I know what it’s like to feel like that and here’s what I did to help you in different various topics you know I was like imagine if I would have called you on the phone and say hey man I know your granddaughter just passed away but keep praying keep your head up uh love you bro just keep pushing hang up right that that can be helpful that’s motivational you know I care but if I would have said man let’s let’s go sit down and have a conversation let’s do a FaceTime let’s hop on Zoom let’s go out to eat and have a longer conversation I’m like which one would you have needed more and he just started getting emotional you know on this call we’re both grown men talking he got really emotional he’s like man I’m really starting to realize through this conversation of like what I need to really do and it’s not just like what’s easy you know for for me it’s it’s what’s best for them and I was like yeah think about this guy that that right now suffered the loss of his kid and he’s going through a tough time and he told me like a lot of marriages don’t survive after suffering the loss or going through the loss of a kid of a child uh death of a child I was like what does he need he’s like yeah man he doesn’t need like a 30C 60c video that’s easy that just has captions and a bunch of fancy editing like he needs me to sit down and have these hard conversations that are really going to help him out and maybe he won’t answer my phone calls or my text but if I send them to these videos maybe he’ll watch them and maybe what I’m saying will touch his heart and he just started getting really emotional saying man this is like the vision I have like I know God called me to make a difference and that’s what I need to focus on and he was like you know the inform the the the advice you’re giving me is way different than everybody else most people tell me to focus on the editing and the camera and just making it high quality but you’re so focused on making an impact being genuine being authentic and I was like yeah because I I know what that feels like to be on the other end to where you’re going through something whether that’s trying to grow a business Health mindset whatever it is and you need someone to help you I think shorts are great for staying top of mind and to to remind people that were there but when you are usually struggling with something you’re really trying to find a way you one you want someone to explain it in more detail but also you want someone you can connect with that’s what I don’t see enough people talking about it’s like are we just selling products and services or are we trying to be that Beacon of Hope for our audience that person that they can go to and say man I’m I’m so thankful I’m so glad that you post this video this video changed my mindset changed my life and whatever topic that you’re passionate about so he was super excited about that like man I know what I got to do this is my calling I I have to go make these videos to help these people and I would challenge you to think the same you can go and do all this other research online and people are going to tell you all do shorts it’s easier to get views clicks blah blah blah are you trying to get views clicks and only sell Services if so maybe that’s for you but if you’re trying to do what this guy was trying to do which is leave a legacy actually make an impact and change lives I would challenge you to put yourself in their shoes not just your shoes and say ah well I’m busy I have all this stuff going on I don’t feel like making content to me that’s selfish when you know that the information that you have can help other people instead say if I was in their shoes and they’re struggling with what I could help them with what would they need what topics should I cover how long should these videos be how can I address it and help those people again be the Beacon of Hope inspiration of light for those people if you do that on a consistent basis trust me the money is going to come the opportunities are going to come people are going to see how genuine and authentic you are they’re going to want to connect with you because they’re like yo you really changed my life and my mindset with this and so this might be uh not something you’re going to hear anywhere else but I know that you have a product or service that can change other people’s lives and it goes deeper than just making money and doing a transaction you can really change their lives so put yourself in their shoes and see uh you know what would really help them a 30second video or me going more in depth and me actually being a friend and having a conversation and actually embracing them and and helping them through whatever it is that they’re struggling with and so let me know in the comments what are your thoughts on this shorts views and the client and the transactions yes that’s important you got to pay your bills I get that but start shifting your mind to like making an impact leaving behind a legacy because trust me there’s people out there that need you it might not be a million it might not be 100,000 might not be a thousand might not even be a 100 but there’s people out there that need you and if you go out
